# How do I connect Klaviyo or Brevo?

**How do I get the numbers of my newsletters from Klaviyo or Brevo next to the measurements in Metrunio?**

With an API key from your account under “Data connections → Newsletters”. Metrunio then reads recipients, deliveries and unique clicks per send every day and shows them in the “Newsletters” report next to measured visits and attributed orders or leads. If the section is missing, the integration is not yet enabled for your account.

Metrunio measures a newsletter through the click to your website, with utm_campaign in the link. What is missing there only the platform can say: how many recipients the send went to, how many received it and how many people clicked. Metrunio fetches these numbers with your key and puts them alongside.

## Klaviyo

1. In Klaviyo, create a private key under “Settings”, “API keys”. Give it read access only, to Campaigns and Metrics.
2. In the portal under “Data connections → Newsletters”, choose Klaviyo, paste the key and click “Connect”.
3. Metrunio immediately reads the campaigns sent in the last six months. A key that cannot do this is not stored.

## Brevo

1. In Brevo, create a separate key for Metrunio under “SMTP & API”, “API keys”. That way you can revoke it on its own later.
2. In the portal, choose Brevo, paste the key and click “Connect”.

## What the report shows

- One row per utm_campaign value. Recipients, deliveries and clicks are reported: they come from the platform and are not added to any Metrunio total.
- Visits are measured: visits to your website with this value, with the same consent as any other visit.
- Orders or leads and revenue are attributed, with your default model.
- Metrunio takes the utm_campaign value from the send if the platform names one, otherwise its name. For Brevo, that is the name the way Brevo writes it, lower case with hyphens.
- When several sends share a value, such as a weekly letter under the same name, their visits cannot be told apart. The row then shows the number of sends and the total of their reported numbers. If one of them lacks a number, the total is marked “incomplete”.
- A visit counts in one row at most. If it carries exactly the utm_campaign value of a send, it belongs to that send, even if another send has that name. If it only matches a name, it belongs to the send with that name; if several sends have that name, it counts for none of them.

More clicks than visits is normal. People who decline in the banner are not measured; security software at some mailbox providers opens links before a person sees them; and some clicks do not lead to your website, such as to an unsubscribe form.

## What Metrunio does not read

- No opens: mail apps load images even when nobody reads, so the number says nothing about people. Metrunio does not put a tracking pixel of its own into your emails either.
- No recipients and no addresses. Only totals per send are read.
- No revenue according to Klaviyo or Brevo. It follows the platform’s own attribution and would sit next to Metrunio’s like a second truth.

## Limits

- Metrunio reads once a day and on “Fetch now”, each time the last six months. Older sends keep the numbers read last.
- Brevo only includes statistics for the last six months in its campaign list. Klaviyo allows the report twice a minute; if you click “Fetch now” several times in a row, Metrunio reports the throttling, and the next fetch catches up.
- If your Brevo account restricts access to certain IP addresses, Brevo rejects every request from Metrunio. Metrunio does not fetch from a fixed sender address.
- Metrunio does not read flows or automated emails, only campaigns that were sent. It still measures their clicks on your website, through utm_campaign.

If you disconnect, Metrunio deletes the key and the fetched numbers. Measured visits and attributed orders stay, as they come from your website. You can disconnect even when the integration is no longer enabled for your account: the connection stays under “Data connections → Newsletters”, it just no longer fetches anything.

> **Legal note:** Totals can relate to individual recipients for very small sends, and so can campaign names. Metrunio therefore processes the numbers on your behalf under the data processing agreement; Brevo and Klaviyo remain your providers. What Metrunio stores and for how long is set out in the privacy policy under “Further data sources of our customers”. This note is not legal advice.
