# Which website did my ad run on?

**Can Metrunio show on which publisher website an ad was seen or clicked?**

Metrunio shows it for ads that carry your own tracking code. If your ad server fills the domain into the [SITE_DOMAIN] macro, it is stored with every impression, view and click. Without the macro, Metrunio reads the website from the referrer, as far as the browser sends one, and says that this is where the value came from.

| Origin | Where it comes from | When it is shown |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Macro [SITE_DOMAIN] | your ad server fills in the domain at delivery | always, when present |
| Referrer | pixel and click: the address the browser sends; viewability tag: the top page in the browser, otherwise the referrer | only when the macro is missing |

Both are stored, one is shown. In the journey the website appears under “More about this touchpoint”, with “from the referrer” added when it came from there. Under “Attribution” you can break conversions and revenue down by “Publisher site”.

Only the host is stored, for example anzeigenmarkt-beispiel.de, never path or parameters. The address of a single listing or article does not belong in the measurement.

> **Caution:** If the creative sits in an ad server’s frame, the browser often sends that frame’s address as the referrer rather than the page’s. Metrunio therefore does not accept known ad servers as a publisher: the website stays empty rather than wrong. Firefox does not reveal the top page. Only the macro is reliable.

There are no costs per website; costs come per campaign. In the breakdown by publisher site the cost column therefore shows a dash.

Whether a view receives a share of the order does not depend on the website but on whether the browser lets view and purchase be linked. That is explained in “How post-view is measured”.
