# How do I set up Metrunio in Shopware 6?

**How do I install and connect the Metrunio plugin for Shopware?**

You install the “Metrunio” plugin in Shopware 6, click “Connect to Metrunio” in its settings and confirm the website in the portal. From then on the plugin measures visits, takes the consent decision from your consent tool and reports orders, cancellations and refunds straight from the shop server.

## What you need

- Shopware 6.6 or 6.7, self-hosted or with a hosting provider. Shopware Cloud does not run plugins; there you measure with the snippet and the Server Events API.
- A Metrunio account with a website for the shop and a concluded data processing agreement. Before that, Metrunio accepts nothing.
- The shop’s domain among the addresses of that website, as its main address or an allowed domain. The portal only returns there after authorisation.
- A running message worker. Shopware sends the order reports through its message queue; the admin worker is enough.

## Setting it up

1. Download the free “Metrunio” plugin in the portal under “Setup assistant”. Upload the file in the administration under “Extensions → My extensions → Upload extension”, then install and activate the plugin.
2. Open “Extensions → My extensions → Metrunio → Configure” and choose the sales channel at the top.
3. Click “Connect to Metrunio”. The portal opens: sign in, choose the website and confirm.
4. You are taken back to Shopware. The status line names the connected website.
5. Under “Consent source”, choose your tool or leave “Automatic”. Save and clear the cache.
6. In the plugin settings, click “Check consent”. Your shop opens with a small panel at the top right: which consent tool is recognised, which entry it looks for and which decision is present. Accept in the banner, and the panel shows the new decision.
7. Open the shop in a private window, accept in the banner and visit two pages. They appear in the live test in the portal.

The plugin reads the decision from the Shopware cookie manager or from Usercentrics, consentmanager, Cookiebot, CCM19, OneTrust, Google Consent Mode or IAB TCF. For tools that hold back scripts before consent on their own (Cookiebot, Usercentrics, consentmanager, OneTrust), the Metrunio script tags carry the exemptions these tools provide for this. Before your visitors decide, they store and send nothing. You only need an entry for Metrunio in tools that ask for services, such as Usercentrics or CCM19; the check shows which one.

If your shop has several sales channels, you connect each one. Each measures into the website you choose when connecting; two channels may use the same website.

## What the plugin measures

| What | From where | When |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Page views and consent | snippet on every page of the sales channel | only after the decision in the banner |
| Purchase | from the shop server when the order is created | with consent, linked to the visits; without a decision in the banner with the order number, without browser, customer or advertising identifiers, not attributed; after a refusal the same, but only with an activated additional instruction for revenue reconciliation |
| Cancellation and full refund | from the shop server on the status change | as a refund of the full amount |
| Subscription orders from Shopware Subscriptions (from 1.3.0) | from the shop server, with the subscription ID | the first order like any purchase; every renewal order as a renewal without a decision and without identifiers, measured and never attributed |
| Link between purchase and visits | identifier from the session, which the plugin attaches to the order | only with consent for analytics |

Amounts go out in your shop’s default currency, at the rate Shopware used for the order. The plugin takes the cost of goods from the products’ purchase price, but only if it is maintained for every line. If one is missing, the field stays empty.

## When the portal shows a finding

| Finding | Cause | What you do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| SHOPWARE_SNIPPET_INACTIVE | The snippet is switched off for the sales channel. Orders arrive, visits do not. | Switch it on in the plugin settings, save, clear the cache. |
| SHOPWARE_REPORTS_STALLED | Order reports have been waiting in the shop for more than an hour. Usually no message worker is running. | Start the worker. Orders that were not reported can be sent again from the plugin settings. |

## Limits

- The plugin does not report partial refunds. Shopware only knows the status “partially refunded”, not the amount. Report them through the Server Events API.
- A renewal order from Shopware Subscriptions is created without a visit. It goes out without a consent decision, even if Shopware copies the details of the first order, and is therefore never attributed. If one order starts several subscriptions (mixed cart with different plans), it carries no subscription ID.
- Orders you create in the administration have no session and therefore no consent. They count towards revenue but are not attributed to any channel.
- If someone abandons payment at PayPal or Klarna, Shopware cancels the order. The report then shows a purchase and a refund.
- Your data stays in Metrunio after an uninstall. If Metrunio cannot be reached while you uninstall, the connection remains. You then release it in the portal under “Data connections” with “Release connection”; the Admin role can do this.
- When you uninstall, Metrunio’s details on your orders stay in place (`order.customFields.metrunio`: the visit and session identifiers and the consent state). They belong to the order in your shop, and if you install the plugin again, it reports refunds of earlier orders with their consent state.
