Connect and read Google Search Console
Connect Google Search Console under “Organic search” and choose a property for each website. The report puts clicks, impressions, click-through rate and position, as Google reports them, next to the visits from Google search that Metrunio measures itself and the conversions attributed to them. Google’s figures go into none of Metrunio’s totals.
How do I see clicks from Google search next to my measured visits?
Connecting
- 01In the portal, open “Organic search” in the “Analyse” group. If the entry is missing, the integration is not yet available for your account.
- 02Click “Sign in with Google” and sign in with the Google account that has access to your website in Search Console. The Admin role may connect it.
- 03Confirm the access at Google. Metrunio only asks for permission to read Search Console (
webmasters.readonly). It cannot change anything there. - 04Back in the portal, choose the property for each website and save. The one that matches the website’s address is suggested. A domain property (
sc-domain:example.com) covers all subdomains and both protocols, a URL-prefix property only that one address. - 05Before saving, you tick a box to confirm that you may retrieve the data of the chosen properties for this account and provide it here. An agency’s Google account often sees the properties of several clients; only connect the ones that belong to this account.
Three kinds of figures
- Reported: clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position in Google web search, as Google delivers them. Metrunio adds them to none of its own totals, neither the overview nor attribution.
- Measured: visits Metrunio recorded itself that came from organic Google search, per landing page.
- Attributed: conversions and revenue that the chosen model credits to these visits.
Pages are matched by their address without parameters and anchors, with and without www. The search queries come from Google only: Metrunio does not see what someone searched for, and it does not link any search query to a visit, a person or a conversion.
Why Google counts more clicks than Metrunio measures visits
Google counts every click on a search result. Metrunio measures a visit only when consent has been given and the browser allows measurement; an ad blocker can prevent it. The gap between the two columns therefore shows which share of the visits from search is measured. It is not an error.
Period, delay and time zone
- Google reports with a delay of two to three days. The report names the last day with figures from Google and shows visits and conversions for exactly those days.
- Google counts days in the Los Angeles time zone, Metrunio in your account’s time zone. At the edge of a day, a few hours therefore fall on the neighbouring day. This cannot be converted, because Google delivers nothing smaller than a day.
- Metrunio asks Google for the figures when you open the report and keeps them in memory for no more than one hour, only for your account and the chosen property. None of them is kept. After you disconnect or revoke access, the report shows nothing more from this cache.
- Landing pages are shown only as long as the raw events with the address are retained. Older visits count in the totals, but without a page.
What Google does not list individually
Google does not list rare search queries individually, to protect the people searching. Their clicks only appear in the total, which is why the query rows add up to less. The report shows the 100 most frequent queries and the 100 pages with the most clicks.
Websites and properties
The report follows the website choice in the period bar. “All websites” combines up to five websites with a property; a website without a property does not appear.
When figures from Google are missing
- Property not verified: Google releases no figures for a property without verification. Verify it in Search Console or choose another one.
- The Google sign-in is no longer valid: it was revoked or has expired. Sign in again under “Organic search”.
- Google is not accepting further queries right now: try again in a few minutes.
When the person who connected it leaves
If the person who connected Search Console loses the Admin role or their access to this account, the connection keeps running. The connection then shows a note for the admins. Sign in yourself with “Sign in with Google again”; after that the connection runs on your access.
Disconnecting
“Disconnect” deletes the stored token and the property per website; measured figures stay. If you wish, Metrunio also revokes the access at Google. That withdraws your Google account’s access entirely, including in other Metrunio accounts you connected with the same Google account. You can also remove the access yourself at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Who connects, and whose data
- Only connect properties whose data you may retrieve for this client account and provide here. Having access in your Google account does not mean you may put the figures into any account.
- If the person who connected loses their role or membership in the account, the connection keeps running. The account’s admins then see a notice and can disconnect or reconnect with another Google account.
Legal note
Search queries and pages can identify people, for example by name. Metrunio therefore processes the figures on your behalf under the data processing agreement; you determine their legal basis. With every request Google receives the credential, the property and the parameters of the query. The details are in the privacy policy under “Signing in with Google Search Console”. This note is not legal advice.

- Are Google, Bing and others recognised automatically?
Do I have to set anything up at Google or Bing for the source to be recognised?
Automatically, with nothing to set up at Google or Bing. Metrunio reads the origin from what the browser sends anyway: the referrer and the platforms’ click identifiers (gclid, msclkid, fbclid, ttclid). Channel and source therefore appear in the report straight away. You only need to connect something if you also want campaign names and cost: that is what linking the ad account is for.
- What do “measured” and “attributed” mean?
Why does Metrunio separate measured from attributed figures?
Measured means directly observed: an impression, a viewable impression, a click, a conversion. Attributed means a share distributed by a model; the product keeps both layers apart and never blends them. Alongside them are values you decide yourself (“set”), answers from your customers (“self-reported”) and figures an ad platform reports about itself (“reported”); there is no “estimated” layer.
- When does a day start in the reports?
Which time zone do reports, the chat and the APIs use?
A day runs from midnight to midnight in your account’s time zone; the default is Europe/Berlin, and you can change it under “Settings”. “The last 7 days” are seven whole calendar days including today, and a custom period includes its last day in full. The same rule applies to the overview, reports, costs, the chat, the MCP server and the read API.
- How do I see the figures for a single website?
Can I narrow the reports down to one website?
If your account measures more than one website, you pick it under “Website” in the period row at the top of Overview, Customer journeys, Channels & attribution, Check budget and Commerce & products. Orders or leads count for the website where they came in. Costs and ad contacts count only through the campaigns you assign to the website under “Campaigns”.
- How do ad blockers affect measurement?
Do I lose data to ad blockers and browser protections?
Ad blockers and browser protections cost part of the browser signals, as with any client-side measurement. Metrunio does not circumvent these protections. Conversions can instead be reported server-side, where the browser plays no part.
- How long is data retained?
Which retention periods apply and can I change them?
Raw events are retained for 180 days by default, 90 days on the free Start plan; the period is configurable per tenant up to the plan’s limit and enforced automatically. Journeys, touchpoints and conversions share the period of the raw events they were derived from and are deleted with them, or earlier if a deletion is requested. If a change of plan lowers the limit below the configured period, we announce the reduction 30 days in advance.
