Campagnes et mesure

How do I measure newsletters from Klaviyo or Brevo?

With UTM parameters in the links; Klaviyo and Brevo add them for you if you switch it on. Metrunio assigns clicks with utm_medium=email to the email channel and the campaign through utm_campaign. If “Attribution” lists a name without a campaign, create it there with one click, and earlier clicks are assigned to it afterwards.

How do I get clicks and revenue from my newsletters into Metrunio?

Klaviyo

  1. 01In Klaviyo, under Settings, “Other”, “UTM tracking”, switch on “Automatically add UTM parameters to links”. Every new message then carries the parameters.
  2. 02utm_source and utm_medium are always on. Leave utm_medium on the message type (“Message type”), so emails carry email there.
  3. 03Switch on utm_campaign and enter a value that identifies the send, such as its name. Campaigns and flows have their own values, and single messages can differ (“Customize Tracking Parameters”).

Brevo

  1. 01In Brevo, switch on tracking with Google Analytics in the campaign settings (“Google Analytics & Social”). It applies to all campaigns or to single ones.
  2. 02Brevo then adds utm_source=brevo and utm_medium=email, and as utm_campaign the name of the campaign in lower case with hyphens: “Autumn Sale” becomes autumn-sale.
  3. 03You can change the utm_campaign value per campaign.

In Metrunio

  • Clicks with utm_medium=email or utm_medium=newsletter land in the email channel.
  • Metrunio finds the campaign through utm_campaign: the name or the external ID of a campaign you created, regardless of upper or lower case.
  • If the campaign does not exist yet, its name appears under “Attribution” at campaign level in the list of names without a campaign. “Create as campaign” creates it with exactly that name. Earlier contacts with the name then belong to it, including those that channel detection assigned to another channel; they count towards the chosen channel afterwards, and the confirmation tells you beforehand how many there are. Their conversions are attributed again; the audit log records it.
  • What is measured is the click on your website, with the same consent as any other visit. For Klaviyo and Brevo, Metrunio puts no tracking pixel of its own into the email.

Note

The name in utm_campaign decides. Brevo writes it in lower case with hyphens; if you name the campaign “Autumn Sale” in Metrunio, it does not find the click with autumn-sale. The easiest way is “Create as campaign” with the name that actually arrived.

  • Do I still need UTM parameters?

How do UTM parameters relate to Metrunio click tracking?

UTM parameters are still read and stored, but they are the weaker source. Where a Metrunio click URL is in use, a signed click with an unambiguous identifier is created; UTM remains useful for channels where you cannot set your own tracking link.

  • How do I structure channels and campaigns?

Which levels exist, and how deep do I need to model them?

The structure has five levels: channel, campaign, ad group, ad, creative. Channel and campaign are required; you only create the deeper levels if you want to evaluate at that level.

  • Which attributes are linked?

How does Metrunio know that two signals belong together?

Only through unambiguous identifiers: session ID, pseudonymous first-party ID, click ID, impression ID, view identifier, pseudonymised customer identifier, and order or lead number. Nothing else.
