What does Metrunio show that the Shopify reports do not?
The Shopify reports know every order in your shop and remain the source for revenue, products and returns. Alongside them, Metrunio shows which measured ad contacts came before an order, across several visits too, and from the Pro plan what each campaign cost on Meta and Google and how much attributed revenue it carries. You choose the rule that distributes the revenue and see how the picture changes under another rule.
I already have the reports in Shopify. What does Metrunio add?
Shopify already gives you a page with revenue, orders and sessions. So why another tool? Because the two answer different questions. Shopify knows what was sold. Metrunio shows which advertising came before it and what that advertising cost.
| Question | Where you answer it |
|---|---|
| How much did I sell, what, and to whom? | In Shopify. Every order is there, including those without consent in the cookie banner and those at the till. |
| Which ads and visits came before this order? | In Metrunio under “Journeys”: one person’s measured contacts in chronological order, across several visits. |
| What did a campaign cost, and how much revenue is attributed to it? | In Metrunio from the Pro plan: ad spend comes from Meta, Google and other ad accounts, with ROAS next to each campaign. |
| What would the split look like under another rule? | In Metrunio from the Pro plan: two models side by side, all seven in one table. |
| Did an ad that was seen but not clicked play a part? | In Metrunio from the Pro plan, wherever your own tag runs on the ad (post-view). |
Why the numbers are not the same
Do not expect the same figures per channel and campaign. Shopify distributes sales by its own rule, Metrunio by the model you chose. And Metrunio only attributes orders before which it was allowed to measure contacts. The app still passes on an order without a decision in the banner, with order number and amount; after a refusal it does so only with the additional instruction for revenue reconciliation activated. Such an order appears as “unattributed” with the reason “No consent”. The sum across channels is therefore lower than your shop’s revenue.
Metrunio is not meant to replace the Shopify reports. For accounting, stock and returns, Shopify remains the source; Metrunio is there for the question of where your ad budget should go.
Note
With the Shopify app you also see the last 28 days directly in your Shopify admin: attributed revenue, revenue by channel and the five strongest campaigns. From there you open the portal without a password.

- How does Metrunio differ from web analytics?
We already have Google Analytics. Why add Metrunio?
Metrunio has its own web analytics with page views, visits, time on site and bounce rate, counted for visitors with consent; it does not have funnels built from pages, search terms or modelled figures for visitors without consent, as GA4 offers them. Beyond that, Metrunio measures the delivery and viewability of creatives in supported environments itself and connects them traceably with the conversion. From the Pro plan it shows two models compared head to head and all seven in one table, along with the individual conversions and journeys behind them.
- How do I set up Metrunio in Shopify?
How do I connect my Shopify store to Metrunio?
You install the Metrunio app in your store via its installation link: from the setup assistant in the portal or from our email. If you do not have a Metrunio account yet, the app creates one without a second sign-up once you accept the terms and conclude the data processing agreement with two tick boxes; an existing account you connect by signing in to the portal. Measurement starts only once the DPA is concluded, and then covers storefront, checkout and order at once, with no change to your theme code.
- When are my numbers reliable, and what about my existing data?
When can I rely on the numbers, and what happens to the time before installation?
Metrunio measures ad contacts and journeys from installation onwards; it does not know what came before and adds nothing for it. The split across channels becomes reliable once the click window after installation has been measured in full, 30 days with the default setting, and once a single order or lead no longer upsets the ranking of your channels. Orders from before can be imported with the Shopify app; they then appear as “unattributed”.
- Why do my numbers differ from Meta and Google?
Metrunio shows fewer conversions than the ad account. Why is that?
Deviations are normal and usually explainable: different attribution windows, different models, the same conversion claimed by several platforms, and missing signals where consent was not given. Metrunio counts each purchase once, even when browser and server report the same order, and distributes it by a rule you can inspect.
- How do the attribution models calculate?
Which models exist and how do they distribute the share?
There are seven models: six distribute a conversion by a fixed, disclosed rule, and the seventh reads the rule from your own paths. If a model finds matching touchpoints, it distributes the conversion’s full value across them; if it finds none, the conversion stays “unattributed” and is shown separately. Attributed and unattributed together add up to all conversions it calculates.
- What does Metrunio cost?
Which plans are there, and what happens if I go over?
Five plans, tiered by events per month: Start (free), Pro (€79), Growth (€249), Scale (€599) and Agency (€299 with two client accounts, €49 per further one, 250,000 events per client account); every four delivered impressions count as one event. Above the allowance, every started 10,000 events cost €3, and a plan never costs more than the next plan up would cost at the same volume.
