How do I work with several clients as an agency?
Every client is a separate tenant with its own data, and one login can be a member of several tenants and switch between them in the portal. Data ends at the tenant boundary, technically as well.
Can I manage several tenants from one login?
- Multi-tenant down to the database level, with row-level security as a second layer.
- Roles per tenant: the same person can be admin for one client and read-only for another.
- The same setup flow for every client, with no bespoke route per mandate.
- Under “Client overview” all client accounts sit in one table, those needing action first: whether measurement and ad accounts are running, what came in, how much of the quota has been used this month and what is open, with a button to open each. On Mondays, an email to the admins sums up which clients have something open. See “How do I see all clients at a glance?”.
- CSV export for your own reporting and client presentations.
- One scheduled report for all of them: a single message with one section and its own CSV file per client account. The files are separate, so each can be passed on without containing another client’s figures.
- A note per client, placed above the next report: your sentence of context, marked as a note, valid for exactly one report.
- Every figure carries its basis in the text of the report and in every row of the CSV: model, post-view, period, environment, currency and data status.
- The change log makes it traceable who changed what and when.
Note
Switching tenants happens in the portal and creates a new session for the chosen tenant. The “Client overview” puts clients side by side. Each row comes from the client’s own tenant, figures appear only where you are a member, and there is no total across them. Nor is there any view that mixes data from several clients.
Caution
There is no white-label appearance: reports and the portal carry the Metrunio name. What you can add are your own words in the note and the file you take into your own document. Which metrics appear in the report is not selectable.
The agency plan
- A client account is a client’s separate area: its own websites, its own data, its own logins and roles.
- €299 a month with two client accounts, €49 for each further one. With five client accounts that is €446, with ten client accounts €691 (€299 plus eight more at €49 each) and an allowance of 2,500,000 events. All prices net.
- Every active client account adds 250,000 events a month to the allowance, the two included ones as well. The count covers all client accounts together: a large client may measure more than a small one as long as the total fits. Above it every started 10,000 events cost €3; the agency plan has no fixed cap.
- If a single client uses more than 1,990,000 events a month over its share, its overage costs more than a contract of its own on Scale (€599 with 5,000,000 events). The usage overview under “Clients” then marks it, and the volume calculator on the pricing page names the threshold. With a contract of its own, though, the client no longer appears in your client overview.
- Data is kept for up to 730 days. The features of Scale are included: post-view, model comparison, forwarding to the platforms, the read API, MCP, experiments and sign-in through Google Workspace. Plus the overview of all clients and switching between tenants.
- You can book the plan yourself from two client accounts, after signing up, under “Plan & usage”. A tenant for your own company does not count. With a single client, talk to us or take Growth or Scale.
- You create client accounts before booking, under “Clients”; that section is available as soon as you have booked the agency plan or chosen it when signing up. Until you book they are prepared: you can set them up, but nothing is measured there yet and no surcharge applies. With the agency plan they become active; if it ends, they rest again. Nothing is deleted.
- If you book the agency plan during your trial, your client accounts start measuring when you book, and you pay the base price only from the end of the trial. The surcharge from the third client account onwards and any overage are billed only from the month after the trial ends. If the trial ends in less than two days, billing for the base price starts right away.
- The agency demo on the agencies page of the website shows what the client overview and the monthly report look like: a sample agency with three clients, without signing in and read-only.
- The agency plan cannot be booked through Shopify.
- If a client already has a Metrunio account of their own, support assigns it to your agency. Taking it over with an invitation link is not enabled yet. See “How do I hand over an existing account to an agency?”.
Passing usage on to your clients
In the “Client overview”, below the table, you find the usage per client and calendar month: the events, how many of them the allowance covers and how many go beyond it. You pick one of the last twelve months; the current one is marked “to date” and is still growing. “CSV with 12 months” downloads all twelve months as a file with the columns kunde, monat, events, im_kontingent_enthalten, darueber, bis_heute and datenstand (client, month, events, included in the allowance, beyond, to date, data status).
- It is counted exactly as for your invoice: every event that goes onto your agency’s allowance counts for the client it came from. Delivered impressions count four to one event here as well. What your own tenant measures appears under no client.
- Each client’s allowance covers up to 250,000 events, the amount it adds to the shared allowance. “Beyond” is what it used on top of that in the month.
- You are billed for the total across all clients: a client below its 250,000 events offsets one above. Added up, the “beyond” column can therefore exceed the overage on your invoice. What you charge your clients is up to you.
- A month starts at midnight UTC, as on the invoice. In Germany that is 1 am in winter and 2 am in summer.
- A closed client account stays in the list as long as usage was counted for it within the twelve months.
- You see the figure for clients you are not a member of as well: it belongs to your billing and is not an analysis of the client’s data. Admin and analyst can download the file; read-only access sees the table.
Note
Usage per client has only been counted since this view was introduced in October 2026. Months before show a dash, not a zero, and the file leaves them out: until then there was only the total across all clients.
What your clients see of the billing
Under “Plan & usage”, your clients only see that you handle billing: your name, no price, no allowance, no usage and no button to book. They cannot book a plan of their own; the API rejects it and names you. If measurement is paused because your allowance is used up, they see that in red on the overview and data status, also without figures.
DPA per client account
Every client account needs its own data processing agreement before anything is measured there. It is concluded inside the client account itself, in the setup assistant as for any account, by a person with the Admin role. Whoever creates a client account holds that role there.
Legal note
If you work as an agency on behalf of your client, you are a processor yourself, and Metrunio becomes a further processor. The DPA then requires you to name the controller for the client account, so the chain of instructions is documented. Whether your client concludes the DPA herself or you do it for her is for the two of you to settle in your own contract.

Is there an overview of all of my agency’s client accounts?
Under “Client overview” every client account of your agency sits in one row, those needing action first: whether measurement and ad accounts are running, how much of the quota the client has used this month, plus events, conversions, revenue and attribution rate for the last 7, 30 or 90 days. Measurement, ad accounts and figures appear only for clients in which you are a member yourself. On Mondays, an email to the agency’s admins sums up which clients have something open.
- How do I hand over an existing account to an agency?
Can an agency take over a Metrunio account that already exists?
The takeover is not enabled yet; until then, support assigns an existing account to an agency. Once enabled, it works with the consent of both sides: the agency creates an invitation link under “Client overview”, and the account’s administrators open it and accept. After that the account is a client account of the agency and is billed through it; data, websites and settings stay. A subscription of the account’s own has to end first. The administrators can go back to their own subscription at any time under “Plan & usage”.
- Which roles exist and what may they do?
Who is allowed to do what in the portal?
There are three roles inside a tenant (Admin, Analysis and Read only) plus two platform-side roles. Every API route checks the permission server-side; hiding things in the interface is only the display of that.
- What does Metrunio cost?
Which plans are there, and what happens if I go over?
Five plans, tiered by events per month: Start (free), Pro (€79), Growth (€249), Scale (€599) and Agency (€299 with two client accounts, €49 per further one, 250,000 events per client account); every four delivered impressions count as one event. Above the allowance, every started 10,000 events cost €3, and a plan never costs more than the next plan up would cost at the same volume.
- Who changed what?
How do I check who changed a setting?
The change log records changes with person, time and action, plus the security of user accounts, for example who switched off two-step verification or suspended someone’s access. It is visible to the Admin role; each entry is kept for 180 days.
