Only test data is arriving. What is missing?
The test events from the setup assistant prove that your account, the processing and the reports work, but not that your website is measuring. Until an event from the “production” environment arrives, every standard report stays empty and “Setup” reports the finding ONLY_TEST_EVENTS.
Setup is complete but the reports stay empty. Why?
Every event carries an environment. Whatever the assistant triggers itself carries “test”; whatever your installed website sends carries “production”. Standard reports show production data only. That is why setup can be complete and the overview still empty.
- 01Check that the snippet is on the published page, not only in a preview or on a staging instance.
- 02Compare the site ID in the installed code with the one shown in “Setup”.
- 03Check that the write key is filled in completely. A placeholder sends nothing.
- 04Open your website in a new tab; a single page view is enough.
- 05Then check “Setup” for when the last production signal arrived.
If still nothing arrives, the consent tool is a frequent cause: depending on the setting, nothing is sent before consent is given. The live test shows whether a consent status is being transmitted.
Note
Test events do not count towards your plan’s event quota. You can delete them in “Setup” with “Reset test data”.

Metrunio keeps them apart itself, so your tests do not distort the reports: every event from the assistant and the live test carries the environment “test” and is excluded from standard reports. In “Setup” you delete all test data with “Reset test data”; first it shows you what will disappear.

First: is the data processing agreement concluded? Without it Metrunio accepts nothing, and the portal shows “Measurement paused: DPA missing.”. If it is concluded, the GTM container is usually not published, consent is missing or the domain is not in the allowed list; these six steps cover the most common causes.

The finished code block is in the portal under “Setup → Snippet” and contains site ID and collector address. You see the write key only once, when it is created; if it is no longer known, the code carries the placeholder YOUR_WRITE_KEY and a button next to it creates a new one. The block belongs immediately before the closing head tag and loads asynchronously.
