How is a journey created?
A journey is a chain of measured signals with timestamp, source and identifier, not a reconstruction. Signals are joined when they carry a shared, unambiguous identifier.
How do individual signals become one coherent journey?
- 01Delivery: the impression pixel reports that the creative was served.
- 02Viewability: the viewability tag reports whether it was actually visible.
- 03Click: the click travels through a signed link and is redirected safely.
- 04Website: the tag reports session, page views and interactions. A visit becomes one touchpoint; moving between pages inside it does not add another.
- 05Conversion: your shop or CRM reports the completion with an order or lead number, from the browser or from the server.
- 06Linking: unambiguous identifiers bring the signals together into one journey.
Where a shared identifier is missing, signals stay separate. Metrunio does not close the gap with probabilities; it reports it. A conversion without linked contacts appears as “unattributed”.

- Does every page view count as a touchpoint?
When does a visit to my website become a touchpoint in the journey?
A visit is one touchpoint, however many pages are viewed in it; the individual page views do not count separately. The same visit only adds another touchpoint when a new campaign signal arrives: a different click ID, different UTM parameters or a different external referrer.
- Which attributes are linked?
How does Metrunio know that two signals belong together?
Only through unambiguous identifiers: session ID, pseudonymous first-party ID, click ID, impression ID, view identifier, pseudonymised customer identifier, and order or lead number. Nothing else.
- Why is a conversion not attributed?
What does “unattributed” mean, and how do I improve coverage?
“Unattributed” means the model found no touchpoint for this conversion that it considers. Either none falls inside the attribution window and is linked by a shared identifier, or there are only touchpoints of a kind the model does not distribute. Metrunio does not invent a contact in that case.
- How do I inspect a single journey?
Where can I trace which contacts preceded a conversion?
Under “Customer journeys” you open a journey by its order number and see ad contacts, visits, shop steps and conversions in one sequence with the time. Each touchpoint names time, channel, campaign and the share under the model of the context row; the side column says how that model splits the conversion across channels, and what was recorded.
