Where do I install tracking in my shop system?
For Shopify, Shopware 6 and WordPress with WooCommerce there is an extension that measures visits, consent and orders at once. The other systems have a place for custom head code; the table names the route per system. Without an extension, we additionally recommend the Server Events API for purchases, because it works independently of the browser.
How do I install Metrunio in WordPress, Shopify, Shopware or Webflow?
| System | Route | Note |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress and WooCommerce | Install the Metrunio plugin and connect it under “Settings → Metrunio” | For WordPress 6.9 to 7.1; with WooCommerce it reports orders too. You download it in the portal’s setup assistant. |
| Shopify | Install and connect the Metrunio app | It covers storefront, checkout and order at once; no theme change needed. |
| Shopware 6 | Install the Metrunio plugin and connect it in its settings | For Shopware 6.6 and 6.7. Shopware Cloud does not run plugins: there use “Settings → Templates”, extend the head section and clear the cache. |
| Webflow | “Project settings → Custom code → Head code” | Publish afterwards. |
| Stripe or PayPal | Add a connection under “Data connections → Payment providers” | Purchases and refunds come from the payment provider, without code of your own. See “How do I report purchases through Stripe or PayPal?”. |
| Custom website | central layout file | Include it only once. |
Note
Many shop systems do not allow free scripting on the order confirmation, or redirect to an external payment page. In those cases report the purchase server-side with the same order number. The journey then stays complete.
Note
This is particularly true for Shopify: no custom script runs on the payment pages, so a snippet in the theme measures nothing there. The Metrunio app solves this (see “How do I set up Metrunio in Shopify?”).

You install the Metrunio app in your store via its installation link: from the setup assistant in the portal or from our email. If you do not have a Metrunio account yet, the app creates one without a second sign-up once you accept the terms and conclude the data processing agreement with two tick boxes; an existing account you connect by signing in to the portal. The finished code block is in the portal under “Setup → Snippet” and contains site ID and collector address. With automatic page views (autoPageviews, on by default) the SDK also counts route changes without a reload: it notices every address change through pushState, replaceState and the back button. Call metrunio.page() yourself only if your router switches views without changing the address, or if you have turned autoPageviews off.

Without writing code, on every plan: under “Data connections → Payment providers” you add a connection and enter the address Metrunio gives you as a webhook at Stripe or PayPal. Purchases and refunds then come from the payment provider; a purchase is attributed if it carries the reference from the SDK.
