TRACKING CHECKER
An ad adds its click ID to the address. If your website redirects afterwards, the ID sometimes gets lost while the page still loads. The checker shows whether that happens on your site and which consent tool and tracking tags are in your page’s HTML.
01 / YOUR ADDRESS
Ideally use the destination URL of one of your ads. The checker adds test values for gclid, fbclid, msclkid, ttclid and the UTM parameters and follows every redirect.
Once the values arrive, Metrunio reads them on your page and shows you which ads came before your orders or leads.
02 / HOW IT CHECKS
Google adds gclid to the address, Meta fbclid, Microsoft msclkid, TikTok ttclid. If your website then redirects, from http to https, from your-shop.com to www.your-shop.com or into a language folder, the part after the question mark sometimes falls away. The checker calls your address with test values, follows up to five redirects and shows at which one a value gets lost.
On the last page it reads the HTML and looks for known consent tools such as Usercentrics, Cookiebot, consentmanager or Borlabs Cookie, and for tracking tags such as Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel or the Metrunio installation code. It does not run JavaScript: anything a script loads later, it does not see.
You need no account, and the checker does not ask for contact details. We process the address and the result only for the check and do not keep them. So that nobody uses the checker for bulk requests, we count checks per connection using a checksum of your IP address and forget them after ten minutes. In a server’s logs the checker shows up as MetrunioTrackingCheck.
