Journeys e identidades

Can I trace what someone did in my shop?

Every journey’s timeline shows it: each visit with its measured steps, with or without a conversion. Products viewed, cart, form, checkout and purchase stand in the sequence, and the pages viewed expand on the visit. In the journey list, “Without conversion” and “Cart without purchase” find exactly those visits.

How do I see which pages someone viewed, even if the visit did not end in a purchase?

A journey’s timeline tells you where someone came from and what the person did next, in one sequence: one touchpoint per visit and per new campaign signal, with the shop steps in between, exactly as your shop or application reported them. The page views of a visit expand on the visit, so the sequence stays readable.

What a visit shows

  • On the visit: start, entry channel, number of steps, duration and whether the visit ended in a conversion. A visit without a measured touchpoint is named as such.
  • Per step: time, kind (viewed product, added to cart, submitted form, lead, purchase, goal step, custom event with its name; on Shopify, for instance, “Started checkout”), the page path with its title, the products and the amount. Page views sit with time, path and title in the expandable list of the visit.
  • If a step lies on a different address from the entry, such as a checkout on its own domain, the host is shown in front of it.
  • If a visit ends without a conversion, its page views close with “No further step measured after this.” That is what the measurement supports: whether the person closed the tab or simply stopped clicking cannot be measured.

Finding visits that did not convert

  • “Without conversion” shows journeys with no measured purchase, lead, form or goal step.
  • “Cart without purchase” shows journeys in which something was added to the cart but nothing was bought. This requires your shop to report add_to_cart; the Shopify app does so on its own. From the default view the switch sets the selection to “All journeys”. If you then choose “With conversion only”, only journeys with a conversion other than a purchase remain, such as an enquiry.
  • Both filters live in the address and can be saved as a view. In the chat and over MCP they are withConversion: false and abandonedCart: true on the journeys tool.

What it does not contain

  • No screen recording, no mouse movement, no scrolling, no input typed into form fields. Metrunio does not record sessions (no “session replay”); it shows what was reported as an event.
  • No query string: /products/shoe?colour=red&email=… appears as /products/shoe. Campaign parameters already appear as a touchpoint in the timeline, and anything else in the query string does not belong in a report.
  • No visits without consent. Without analytics consent no session is created, so there is no history.
  • No bots, no rejected or duplicate events, no identify() calls.

How far back the history reaches

PlanVisit history
Startlast 7 days
Prolast 30 days
Growth, Scale, Agencyas far back as retention

Only the view is limited. Every visit is measured and stored on every plan, and the timeline, conversions and list filters apply to all. If a journey has earlier visits before the window, the history says how many. After moving to a higher plan they appear, as long as retention still holds them. The 30-day trial runs on Growth.

Caution

The visit history needs a session identifier. The tag sets one itself; events sent through the server API without a session_id do not appear here. The steps are raw events and are deleted after your retention period (180 days by default, 90 on the Start plan). For an older journey the early visits are missing while the timeline’s touchpoints remain. At most 500 steps are shown per journey.

Legal note

The visit history shows the paths of individual, pseudonymous people, not just totals. We assume analytics consent covers this because no data is processed beyond what already was. Still, state in your privacy policy and consent text that visits may also be analysed individually, and have your privacy adviser review it.

Artículos relacionados

  • How do I inspect a single journey?

Where can I trace which contacts preceded a conversion?

Under “Customer journeys” you open a journey by its order number and see ad contacts, visits, shop steps and conversions in one sequence with the time. Each touchpoint names time, channel, campaign and the share under the model of the context row; the side column says how that model splits the conversion across channels, and what was recorded.

  • Does every page view count as a touchpoint?

When does a visit to my website become a touchpoint in the journey?

A visit is one touchpoint, however many pages are viewed in it; the individual page views do not count separately. The same visit only adds another touchpoint when a new campaign signal arrives: a different click ID, different UTM parameters or a different external referrer.

  • What does Metrunio cost?

Which plans are there, and what happens if I go over?

Five plans, tiered by events per month: Start (free), Pro (€79), Growth (€249), Scale (€599) and Agency (€299 with two client accounts, €49 per further one, 250,000 events per client account); every four delivered impressions count as one event. Above the allowance, every started 10,000 events cost €3, and a plan never costs more than the next plan up would cost at the same volume.

  • How do I send cart, new customers and margin from my shop?

How do I pass line items, the net value, the cost of goods and whether it was a new customer?

On checkout, tracker.conversion(…) and the Server Events API also accept newCustomer, the breakdown of the order value (netValue, taxValue, shippingValue, discountValue, costOfGoods) and the cart line items (items). All fields are optional; without them Metrunio measures as before. With them you get new-customer cost, contribution margin and product-level reporting.

  • How long is data retained?

Which retention periods apply and can I change them?

Raw events are retained for 180 days by default, 90 days on the free Start plan; the period is configurable per tenant up to the plan’s limit and enforced automatically. Journeys, touchpoints and conversions share the period of the raw events they were derived from and are deleted with them, or earlier if a deletion is requested. If a change of plan lowers the limit below the configured period, we announce the reduction 30 days in advance.

  • How do I measure a single-page app?

What do I do if route changes without a reload are not counted?

With automatic page views (autoPageviews, on by default) the SDK also counts route changes without a reload: it notices every address change through pushState, replaceState and the back button. Call metrunio.page() yourself only if your router switches views without changing the address, or if you have turned autoPageviews off.
