Reports, cost and export

When does a day start in the reports?

A day runs from midnight to midnight in your account’s time zone; the default is Europe/Berlin, and you can change it under “Settings”. “The last 7 days” are seven whole calendar days including today, and a custom period includes its last day in full. The same rule applies to the overview, reports, costs, the chat, the MCP server and the read API.

Which time zone do reports, the chat and the APIs use?

  • Presets (7, 30, 90 days): that many whole calendar days up to and including today, today until now.
  • Custom: from 00:00 on the first day to 24:00 on the last. So “28.09. to 28.09.” is the whole of 28 September.
  • Costs, reach and daily charts use the same calendar days as conversions and revenue.
  • Today counts up to now. In the overview’s trend chart, the segment to today is therefore dashed and marked “still running”: otherwise half a day would look like a slump.
  • The comparison with the previous period takes as many days before. For a preset it ends at the same time of day as today, so half a day is not set against a whole one.
  • Clock change: the day of the change has 23 or 25 hours and stays one day.

Chat, MCP and read API

A date without a time (2026-09-28) means the whole day, as start and as end. A timestamp with time and offset (2026-09-28T10:00:00+02:00) applies exactly as written. The chat shows the period with its zone under every answer; the data tools state it under “period”.

Changing the time zone

Account creation sets the zone: via the Shopify app it takes your store’s, otherwise Europe/Berlin applies. Your account’s admins can change it under “Settings”, from a list with names such as America/New_York or Asia/Tokyo. Before you save, a notice tells you what changes.

  • From the moment you save, every day starts and ends in the new zone, retroactively in all existing reports as well. Days are cut afresh with every query, so daily figures can shift.
  • Times in the portal are shown in the same zone.
  • Orders without consent carry only their business day, no time. They move to midnight of the same day in the new zone and stay on their day.
  • The change is recorded in the change log with the old and the new zone.

Note

An order without consent that arrives within half a minute of the change may still be stored with the start of day of the old zone. Deadlines in two notification emails, about a retention reduction and about the measurement domain certificate, still state their date in Europe/Berlin.

Caution

Ad platforms report costs per day in the ad account’s time zone. If it differs from your account’s, a day’s costs and conversions are a few hours apart.

Until 29.09.2026 the reports counted in UTC, and a custom period ended at midnight at the start of its last day. If you compare older exports, you will therefore find orders or leads shortly after midnight on the previous day. Until 30.09.2026, times in the portal were always shown in Europe/Berlin, even if your account had a different zone.

  • How do I ask questions about my own data?

What can the portal chat do, and what can it not?

Under “Ask your data” a language model answers questions about your measurement data and about how to use the product. It reads only through defined tools, states only figures that came from a tool call, and openly reports which tools it used.

  • Why does the platform report more conversions than you?

Where does the difference between platform, shop and Metrunio come from?

Because the platform and Metrunio count different things. The platform reconciliation in the portal puts the reported figure next to the measured one and names the seven points at which two figures about the same week diverge: period, conversion type, consent, refunds, time zone, attribution window and data freshness. Whatever remains after that is unexplained.

  • How do I connect my own AI tool?

Is there an MCP server for Metrunio?

Through Metrunio’s MCP server. It exposes the same read tools as the portal chat. Claude and ChatGPT sign in via OAuth: you choose in the portal which account they may read. Other tools use an API key of scope “read”, the same one a script would use for /v1/data.

  • Which reports are available?

What can I analyse in the portal?

The reports are in the sidebar: Overview, Customer journeys, Channels & attribution with its breakdown and model comparison, Orders & goals, plus Check budget, Platform reconciliation, Data status and Events, among others. In the period row at the top you choose the period and the model and, once your account measures more than one website, the website.
